Technical report on status of Red Panda and its habitat in SNP 2020

Study of Status of Red Panda and Its Habitat in SNP was done in 2020 as part of approved activities of Buffer Zone Development Program of F/Y 2076/77. The study was carried out in Chaurikharka Buffer Zone (Ward 2 and 3 of Khumbu Pasanglhamu Rural Municipality of Soukhumbu) of Sagarmatha National Park. On an average of 1.7 signs/km of abundance with preferable elevation range of 2600-3400 m. was concluded from the study with grazing and bamboo collection being threats to Red Panda Conservation in the study area.

Trees of Sagarmatha National Park

Study on identification of tree species in Sagarmatha National Park and its buffer zone was carried out in 2019. Field visit, herbarium sample collection and study of national and international herbarium specimen were the method applied for tree identification in SNP and its BZ. All together 57 tree species were identified from the study.

Musk deer report 2018

Musk deer count was conducted in Sagarmatha National Park as an approved activity of fiscal year 2074/75. During the transect line survey of 15 days’ time in SNP, altogether 52 direct observations, 5 killed and 1366 pellets of musk deer were found. Two species of musk deer (Moschus fuscas and Moschus chrysogaster) were recorded (as of morphology and body fur coloration) during the survey by direct counts.
